There are many
Office Signs in the place I work and a lot of the staff joke that there are too many
Office Signs for one office to have. When I questioned what all of the
Office Signs are for, the staff came up with a variety of answers. It soon became clear that the amount of
Office Signs were far too many and the abundance of them throughout the office made them ineffective. I decided to talk to the management about the issue as I felt there was not much point in having a lot of signs everywhere if nobody was paying any attention to them. After my discussions with the management it was agreed that the signs would be taken down and that much of the information on the various signs could be simplified and included in a much smaller number of signs. I set about this task with vigour because the overload of information that we had been subject to had irritated me as well. Last week we put up the new signs and, after asking the staff for feedback, it became apparent that the new signs were much more acceptable. Moreover, instead of ignoring the signs as had happened previously, the staff now digested the information they contained and acted on them accordingly.
